Hass Avocados are creamy in texture, have a distinctive taste and the best shelf life. Hass Avocados are available in Uganda all year round and are sought after by gourmets with knack for healthy diets due to Avocados superior and numerous health benefits.
The average price per kilo for Hass avocado in Uganda is between UGX2,000 and UGX2,500. The average price is about UGX450-UGX600 per avocado fruit. But during the off-season, from October to February, Hass avocado in Uganda can go up to as high as UGX7,000 per kilo from UGX2,500.
Hass Avocado is produced throughout the year, high in fat and has a rough texture. Other avocado types in addition to Hass Avocado that are grown and can be exported from Uganda and more in demand locally in Uganda, although on a small scale, include shepherd avocados, Hall avocados, Semil avocados, Boss six Avocados and Pinkaton Avocados.
Our Avocados for export are packed in paper boxes . On average a 4kgs box can accommodate 16 avocados of 250g each, 10kgs boxes can take 40 avocado fruits. Larger avocado orders are packed in wooden crates each 20 kgs.
Typically Hass Avocados have a rough skin which serves as a natural protection against harsh conditions especially during transportation, making it an exporter’s favourite. Hass avocado has the longest shelf life among all varieties; up to 2-3 weeks, room temperature, 4-6 weeks, refrigerated.
Hass Avocados have the highest oil content of an average of 14% but can go up to 23%, making them an unrivalled avocado candidate for avocado oil extraction using in cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.. Hass Avocado oil is quality oil that is much sough after across the globe.

In Uganda’s pursuit to diversify itself out of the traditional export crops of Coffee and Tea it is turning its attention to growing high value crops including Avocado, Cashew Nuts and Macadamia. Uganda has very high yield avocado potential with trees being able to produce over 3,000 fruits (about 500 kg) per year. Most of our Hass Avocado exports go to the UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, The Middle East and under AGOA to the US market. We’re currently exporting avocado fruits and crude avocado oil.
