We sell maize and maize flour in bulk to exporters both to the region and to the international market. The biggest destinations for Uganda Maize include, Rwanda, South Sudan, DRC, Burundi, Zambia, Malawi and to some extent Kenya and Tanzania. Import maize from Kampala Uganda. Our maize is sourced from maize farmers across Uganda. The maize is processed into maize flour for export or is exported as maize grain or maize seed to intending importers. The maize is stored dry at the appropriate moisture and aflatoxin levels required by international food standards agencies across the continent and the world.
There are two categories of maize varieties in Uganda; Open Pollinated Varieties-OPVs and Hybrids
Improved OPVs are higher yielding than traditional varieties and seed can be recycled for two years by the farmers without a reduction in yield.
Hybrid varieties under good management yield more than OPVs. However, hybrid seed has to be bought every season. Recycling hybrid seed reduces yield potential.
OPVs include Longe 1, Longe 3, Longe 5 ( Nnalongo)
Hybrid varieties include, Longe 2H, Longe 5H (Nnalongo) Longe 6H, Longe 7H, Longe 9H, Longe 10H, Kayongo (Longe 7H-IR)
The hybrid variety that stands out mostly is Longe 10H for its high yields, ideal for mid altitude, bred with drought and storage pest resistance, erect leaves and good lodging resistance. MSV, GLS, NLB and Turcicum resistance, all factors that make it a preferred option for Uganda maize farmers.

Maize is one of the most important cash and food crops for Uganda. Maize feeds a sizeable proportion of the population including schools, prisons, hospitals, the armed and security forces plus rural folks whose staple food is maize. A sizeable proportion of the population are maize farmers with an estimated 2.5-3 million believed to be involved in maize farming. Maize has increasingly become a staple food in many communities of Uganda. Maize is grown by mostly small scale rural farmers who grow the maize on small acreages ranging from 2-5 acres making up the largest share of maize producers in the country. Maize is grown almost across the entire country and as such offers a direct source of income and livelihood to over 2 million Ugandan households, over 1,000 maize traders/middlemen and over 700 millers.
