Organic fresh garlic from Uganda. We source our garlic fresh from farmers predominantly in western Uganda and on the foot of Mt Rwenzori including Kasese because of the fertile volcanic soils. Garlic is also grown in Kabarole and increasingly in Luwero. We source our fresh organic garlic from carefully selected farmers who adhere to organic methods of growing garlic who adhere to stringent post harvest handling methods of garlic. The garlic bulbs are dried on raised stands to prevent contamination with foreign material, stones and dust. Garlic predominantly has 2 garlic varieties, hard neck and soft neck garlic
Garlic varieties fall into one of two basic categories: hard neck and soft neck. Soft neck garlic varieties are best for warm climates including some parts of Uganda, while hard-neck is the garlic of choice for northern garlic farmers. Soft-neck garlic stores and travels better than hard-neck garlic. It also has a stronger flavour and generally speaking, larger cloves.
We have garlic at our central warehousing unit in Kampala. The garlic is bought directly from farmers in Uganda and dried at the warehousing facility in order to keep it fresh and of high quality. It is from the Kampala facility that we dispatch the garlic to wholesalers in Kampala, Entebbe and Jinja as well as to our international buyers’ destinations across the globe.
